Description

This famous anti-slavery novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe had an enormous impact when it was first published in 1852. Plantation owner Arthur Shelby is in debt and must sell two of his slaves. One of them is Harry, the little son of Eliza, and the other is kind-hearted Uncle Tom. Eliza overhears the plan and decides to run north with her boy to Canada, where there is no slavery. Will they escape, or will they be caught? Tom stoically accepts his destiny, believing the Shelbys will buy him back when they have the money. Will he be sold to a cruel master? Will he finally be given his freedom?
